Brad Staples Group Trip Report (05/14/2017)

After a long time planing, Brad returned to the atoll hosting a group of four great anglers, Fishing With Larry Adventures old time clients. We prepared this trip on a combo mixup so they could fish 5 days at the Scorpion Atoll and 3 days at Tarpon Town making it a one of a kind trip fishing nine days in two different yucatan premiere destinations.

During the Atoll trip we experieced a smooth cruise on the way out, making the journey in three and a half hours, contrasting to the return trip when we faced 35 knot SE winds that made us cruise at 15 nots for a total ride time of 4:30 hours. Not that bad for such a wind, and very comfortable for those who rode in their cabins or galley.

Remarkables from the trip are that we found great numbers of bonefish in islands where we hadnt  in the past. We also had a chance to fish one island that had never been fished before and found a good amout of 4-7 pounders bones, countles snappers hitting the shore, small permit and also palometa (AKA fake permit). We were blown out from the biggest island as the main flat was hit by very gusty winds and a high tide so we decided to move to another flat with a leeward flat and managed to put everyone into good fishing.

We landed many bones on the five pounds range, a few under the 7 pound limit, countless snappers, amberjacks and few barracudas, five  permit under 6 pound and chased around 20 chances of big permit over 25 pounds with no success on any rod; however seeing those forked tails a foot and a half out of the water gets your heart half way out of your chest.

Campeche weather was the other way, very warm, actually very hot, as well as the fishing very productive which brought lots of tarpon chances to everyone. Average per boat were 10-15  tarpon jumped and about 3 or 4 landed.

All travel logistics were run on time and accurately.
